Ziro, Oct 12: The Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium in Hapoli buzzed with unmatched energy yesterday as athletes, elders, and enthusiastic spectators gathered for the District-Level Traditional Sports Competition under the Seva Sankalp Utsav.

Jointly organized by the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and the District Administration of Lower Subansiri, the vibrant event was graced by Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) Hibu Dumi and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Hage Tarung. Speaking to the charged crowd, the dignitaries applauded the athletes for keeping ancestral traditions alive, emphasizing that preserving these indigenous games is vital for passing down cultural identity, discipline, and unity to the younger generation.

The stadium transformed into a lively arena of friendly rivalry and cultural pride. Athletes went head-to-head in six gripping traditional disciplines that tested strength, agility, and precision: Tug of War, GulliDanda, Archery, Dali Hakka Hinam, Bamboo Pole Climbing, and the fast-paced Bamboo (Stick) Race. Every event drew roaring applause from community members who turned out in large numbers to back their local teams.

Beyond the medals and competitive spirit, the day served as a powerful reminder of the rich heritage rooted in Lower Subansiri, offering a joyous platform for community bonding and grassroots sportsmanship. (DIPRO)
