Tawang :: 18/07/2026 :: In a remarkable demonstration of the enduring Civil–Military partnership, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 5 Mountain Division, Major General Amit Nautiyal, SM, VSM, today handed over computer sets and traditional dance costumes to various schools and NGOs of Tawang at the Major Bob Khathing Memorial Museum.

The programme was graced by Deputy Commissioner Tawang, Namgyal Angmo, IAS, as the Guest of Honour. Among those present were Commander, Tawang Brigade, Brigadier Bhupal Singh, SM; Additional Deputy Commissioner Tawang, Rinchin Leta; Divisional Forest Officer, Piyush Gaikwad, IFS; senior officers from the Indian Army and Civil Administration, Gaon Burahs, monks from Tawang Monastery, NCC cadets, and other distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, Major General Amit Nautiyal reiterated that the Indian Army's role in the border areas extends far beyond safeguarding the nation's frontiers. He emphasized that the Army remains equally committed to the socio-economic development of border communities through initiatives that promote education, cultural preservation, and community welfare.

The GOC was also briefed on the various ongoing development projects being implemented under Operation Sadbhavana across Tawang district. He later interacted with NCC cadets, monks, and Gaon Burahs, appreciating their contribution towards nation-building and strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and the local community.

The distribution of computer sets is expected to enhance digital learning opportunities for students, while the traditional dance costumes will support schools and cultural groups in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Monpa community.

The initiative stands as yet another testament to the Indian Army's unwavering commitment towards the holistic development of border regions and reflects the deep trust, mutual respect, and strong camaraderie shared between the Armed Forces and the people of Tawang.
