ZIRO,  Aug 27: In a major effort to bring the community together and honor the nation's military legacy, the 19th JAT, Sarli (C/o 99 APO) has officially launched preparations for the upcoming "Ziro Honour Run 2026," set to take place on October 18, 2026. Designed as much more than a standard athletic race, the initiative pays tribute to India's war heroes while giving local youth a constructive, empowering platform to shine.

Local leadership gatheredat the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall to map out the road ahead. The planning session was chaired by Oli Perme, Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri District, alongside key military and civil representativesincluding Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, Major Sarvodya Tak (OIC, ZHR 2026), Hibu Dumi (ZPC), and leaders from local youth bodies, AWAZ, and APWWS (Ziro Unit). Outlining the vision for the big day, Major Sarvodya Tak announced that runners of all fitness levels will be able to participate across three distinct distances: 5 km, 10 km, and a 21 km half-marathon.

Ensuring a smooth, safe, and festive experience for participants will take a full team effort. Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme assigned clear, targeted roles to each local agency; Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra will oversee route management and keep traffic moving smoothly, while the District Medical Officer (DMO) and APWWS (Ziro Unit) manage medical stations along the course. Meanwhile, the District Sports Officer (DSO) and AWAZ are partnering with local youth groups and area influencers to build excitement online and in the community, while civic teams prepare the town with cleanup drives and guaranteed water and power services.

The spirit in the room was one of strong collaboration, bridging the gap between defense forces, local government, and community members. Following a warm Vote of Thanks from Deputy Commissioner Perme, the committee set its sights on a follow-up review meeting next week to track progress and keep the momentum building toward October.
