SHERGAON: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), interacted with the District Heads of Departments (HoDs) and Gaon Burahs (GBs) at Shergaon on 25th July 2026. 

Addressing the officials, the Governor emphasized that the true measure of governance lies in the extent to which people benefit from government programmes and welfare schemes. He urged all departments to ensure that the benefits of Central and State Government initiatives reach every eligible citizen, particularly those residing in remote and rural areas. 

The Governor stressed that the welfare of citizens must remain at the heart of every reform and development initiative. He noted that reforms should not merely improve administrative processes but must translate into tangible improvements in the lives of people. Such people-centric governance, he said, is essential for realizing the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

The Governor has directed interactions with Gaon Burahs, community elders, Panchayat members, Administration and Self Help Groups, providing useful information covering challenges being faced in relation to tourism, cooperatives, waste disposal, education and drugs.

The Governor further stated that the vision of Viksit Bharat must evolve into a people's movement, driven by active public participation and shared responsibility. He emphasized that the youth of Arunachal Pradesh are the architects of the nation’s future and must be empowered with opportunities, guidance and a sense of purpose. With committed leadership, responsive governance and community participation, he said, every district can become a catalyst for transformative growth and inclusive development.

Observing that governance systems are evolving rapidly in response to emerging challenges and opportunities, the Governor called for continuous adaptation and innovation. He suggested a comprehensive assessment of emerging requirements across departments to improve planning, resource utilization and service delivery. He also advocated a whole-of-District approach, emphasizing greater coordination and convergence among departments to achieve common developmental objectives.

Addressing the Gaon Burahs, the Governor acknowledged their vital role as the bridge between the administration and the community. He shared his concern over the growing menace of drug abuse among youth and called for collective action involving government agencies, community leaders, educational institutions and civil society organizations. 

Local MLA Shri Tseten Chombay, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Dilip Kumar Chetia, leaders of the Sherdukpen community, women from Self-Help Groups, and Gaon Burahs also interacted with the Governor and shared their views, experiences, and aspirations for the development and welfare of the region. (PRO)
