Fire & Emergency Services conducts fire safety awareness programme

Likabali, Oct 3: The Fire & Emergency Services, Likabali, conducted a fire safety awareness programme for students of EuroKids School, Likabali, at the Fire Station premises today.
The programme was conducted following a request from the school authority to the Fire & Emergency Services Department to sensitise young children about basic fire safety measures and preventive practices.
The awareness programme was led by Station Officer (SO) Imme Ngomdir, Officer-in-Charge, Fire Station, Likabali, along with his team. The students were briefed on the basic causes of fire, preventive measures, safe practices, and the appropriate steps to be taken during a fire emergency. The team also interacted with the children and explained fire safety concepts in a simple and practical manner.
Speaking on the occasion, SO Imme Ngomdir highlighted the importance of educating children about safety at an early age, stating that lessons and habits learned during childhood can have a lasting impact on their behaviour and safety awareness in the future.
He appreciated the EuroKids School authority for taking the initiative and cooperating with the Fire & Emergency Services Department in organising the awareness programme.
The Fire & Emergency Services also appealed to the people of Lower Siang district to remain extra cautious during the winter season. People were advised to take necessary precautions while using electrical appliances, heaters, LPG/gas stoves, candles and other fire sources, and to avoid leaving fire or heating appliances unattended.
The department urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any fire emergency to the Fire & Emergency Services for timely assistance.(DIPRO)
