CM attends Swachh Bharat Diwas celebration under “Swachhta Hi Sewa”-2026
Itanagar, Oct 2: Chief Minister Pema Khandu attended the “Swachh Bharat Diwas “celebration under Swachhta Hi Seva-2026, at State Banquet Hall, Itanagar today organized by Itanagar Municipal corporation (IMC).The programme commenced with the floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, in remembrance of his ideals and enduring contributions to the nation.
The CM marked Gandhi Jayanti by calling on citizens to uphold Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity, and service. During the occasion CM officially launched the “Swachhta Vahaan” to drive clean-living awareness campaigns across the sectors and administered a cleanliness pledge to students and volunteers present at the Hall.
Pema Khandu urged the people to take the Swachhta Pledge seriously and dedicate 100 hours a year, around two hours a week, to cleanliness.
While addressing the gathering Chief Minister Pema Khandu urged the public to follow the path of Gandhiji’s peace and non-Violence. He emphasized the critical role of public participating in maintaining sanitation and keeping local communities clean and healthy.
Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh said while we are celebrating Gandhi Jayanti,we shouldfocus on public sanitation and from today onwards, we should pledge to keep our surroundings neat and clean. CS also appreciated the IMC for launching new App .
While welcoming the gatherings Shri Kego Jilen Commissioner IMC highlighted about celebration and urged capital dwellers to maintain clean and green Itanagar. “Iappealed CM to enhanced the budget of IMC to managethe requirements of IMC, the IMC Commissioner said.
The Programme was also attended by Techi Kacho MLA, Likha Neri IMC Mayor, Tok T Yebin Camdir Deputy Mayor, Toko Babu Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex, students and IMC Staffs and other dignitaries..
As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the Chief Minister, along with the participating officers, officials and members of the public, planted saplings at Itaport. (DIPRO)
