Longding, Sep 11 : The 5-day Eco-Tourism Adventure & Cultural Training Camp at Longpit Chanu Zaklo, Longding, concluded on 11th September, 2026.

On the 4thand the 5thday,students of Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Wakka and Pongchau,were trainedin Trekking and Bird-Watching at the Zaklo Chanu trek.

Training on Cultural Tourism was conducted at Chanu village, along witha session on ‘Conservation & Cleanliness of Environment’. A Drawing Competition on the topic ‘Conservation of Mother Nature’, as well as anactivity on ‘Plastic Disposal’formed a key part of thesession to inculcate a sense of responsible tourism among the students.Students were sensitized onproper packing ofcamping materials and proper disposal of garbage post-camp.

In the end, a pledge/oath was administered by the Conservationist Mr.Panging Yame (Paruk), a leading touroperator-cum-environmentalist of North-East India, to the students, volunteers, Members of Chanu Elite Group and the villagers who attended the program. The pledge read “…pledge to serve as an advocate for responsible and sustainable tourism, upholding the guidelines and values promoted during the Eco Adventure and Cultural Training Camp 2026, organised by the District Tourism Office, Longding.I vow to respect and protect Mother Nature, our unique cultural heritage, and local communities, and to promote environmental conservation, responsible travel practices and a cleaner, greener Longding.I promise to follow the safety guidelines in all outdoor activities,minimise my environmental impact, avoid single-use plastics, support local communities and contribute towards a sustainable and vibrant tourism future for Longding and Arunachal Pradesh.I will carry forward the spirit of this training camp and inspire others to do the same”

The Closing Ceremony was attended by Shri Kunal Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Longding as the Chief Guest. Distributing the certificate to the students, he motivated them to put into actual practice what they have learned during the 5-day training camp.Through apt analogies, he stressed the importance of adhering to all safety measures indispensable to the adventure activities.

The 5-day Eco-Adventure and Cultural tourism was sponsored by the Hon’ble MLAMr.HonchunNgandam,Adviser to Hon’ble Minister, PWD (Eastern and Central Zone B), Govt.Of Arunachal Pradesh, and conducted by the District Tourism Officer, Longding. (DIPRO)
