1st Ziro Bird & Butterfly Festival spotlights trekking, workshops and conservation talks on Day 2

ZIRO, Oct 5: The second day of the 1st Ziro Bird & Butterfly Festival, organized alongside the 72nd Wildlife Week celebration 2026, at Manipolyang and Pange saw enthusiastic participation from nature lovers, experts, and local community members.
The day featured an engaging mix of hands-on nature sessions, field excursions, and informative technical discussions.
The morning activities kicked off at Manipolyang, where Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme flagged off the trekking cohort in presence of DFO (Hapoli Forest Division) Tilling Takar.
Led by experts Monsoon Jyoti Gogoi and Nanil, participants took part in interactive workshops on bird watching, butterfly observation, and wildlife photography. Following the introductory sessions, the group set off on a guided walk through the trail from Manipolyang to Pange.
In the afternoon, the venue shifted to Pange for technical presentations and evening field activities. Ecologist Dr Subashis Ghosh from the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) delivered a talk on the fascinating moth diversity of Arunachal Pradesh.
Team members from the Arunachal Pradesh Bird Club (APBC), including Mittal Gala and Samakshi Tiwari, guided participants through an introduction to birding. The evening wrapped up with a talk on ‘conservation and peace’, followed by a mothing demonstration and film screening led by Dr Subhashis, Nanil, and Tako. (DIPRO)
