The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) has expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his ‘Mann Ki Baat’, telecast of 31st January 2021. The Governor said that Arunachal Pradesh was honoured by the Hon’ble Prime Minister who took cognizance and talked about the environment and health friendly ‘Mon Shugu’, the handmade traditional paper of Tawang which has been rejuvenated by a non-governmental organization (NGO) run by Shri Maling Gombu and other local social workers of Tawang. He said that ‘Mon Shugu’ provides an ever expanding avenue for home consumption and exports and it offers increasing employment opportunities for the local youth.
The Governor said that the State Government, under ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Aatma Nirbhar’ schemes would be well advised to make this millennium old local product of world standard and attraction. Possibility should also be explored of procuring this special type of paper for use in the Government offices of our State, he suggested.
The Governor proposes to felicitate all key personnel handling this prestigious programme in his ensuing tour to Tawang on 14th February 2021. He said that honouring such progressive entrepreneurs will encourage the youth and future generations to ‘think out of the box’ for their progress. This will also encourage the youth to venture out beyond the ongoing routine livelihood slots and pursuits. We must motivate our youths to become the ‘job providers’, they must shun the tendency of remaining the ‘job seekers’, the Governor added.
PRO to Governor
