Governor calls for Central Assistance in revamping security issues and Border Area Development

The people of Arunachal Pradesh are following the Mantra of the Prime Minister, which is ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Viswas’ and have resolved to make the State and the Country ‘Atmanirbhar’: Governor.

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) participated in the 69th Plenary of North East Council (NEC) at Shillong on 23rd January 2021.

The Governor briefed the plenary on the law & Order, Security and Public Welfare issues and Border Area Development of the State. He said that the State Government is paying full attention to the Law and Order issues in three Districts viz. Tirap, Changlang and Longding and four Police Stations viz. Namsai, Roing, Mahadevpur and Sunpura which are under the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and that measures for effectively countering the cases of insurgency in the State have been ensured. He also informed that the State has recently got a Major General Rank Officer on Deputation as the Security Advisor for the State.

The Governor said that for the Internal Security and Law and Order, the State Government is strengthening our State Police set up, but it needs the help and assistance of the Union Government for putting the Crime and Criminal Network System in each District in place. Effort is under way to boost the training, working efficiency and morale of the State Police Force, he said

Championing the development of the border area, the Governor said that due to the difficult terrain and inaccessible high mountains in the Border areas of the State, there is a pressing need for road building and development of the far flung villages. He said that during the last five to six years, the Central Government has assisted our State in this field, but, there is a lot more to be done in the improvement of infrastructure on the Indo-Chinese Borders.

The Governor said that there is a pressing need for enhancing Electricity Power Grid, Potable Water Distribution System and increasing the number of Advance Landing Grounds. He expressed his hope that the Union Home Ministry will fully help the State in its effort in making appropriate infrastructural improvement. These amenities are required for improving the well being of our people, he said.

The Governor also highlighted the need for funds to construct foot suspension bridges at many remote places which will improve the mobility and movement of the people of the State and the Indian Army units, who are doing very good work in cooperating with the Civil Administration and helping the local populace.

The Governor requested the Chairman NEC and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Vice Chairman NEC and Union Minister of State (IC) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh to continue providing the necessary help for the development of Arunachal Pradesh. He said that the people of the State are following the Mantra of the Prime Minister, which is ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Viswas’ and have resolved to make the State and the Country ‘Atmanirbhar’.

The Governor in his address to the Council expressed his concern on the huge loss of lives and the turbulent situation that the COVID pandemic has caused to human lives all over the country. He reminded the leadership displayed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in sailing the country through the crisis not only as the head of the Government but also as a world leader. He also expressed gratitude  for motivating the people in various ways like encouraging our frontline medical staff by clapping, lighting lamps and by his ingenious Slogans like  ‘Do Gaj Ki Doori Bahut Hai Zaroori’, ‘Jab Tak Dawai Nahi Tab Tak Dhilai Nahi’.

The Governor extended gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for guiding the people through the COVID 19 pandemic. He expressed his positivity that the slow down and challenges in the economic development which has been caused by the pandemic will soon be overcome under the able guidance of the Prime Minister and that the Nation will very soon rebounce in its developmental progress.

The Chairman of NEC and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Vice Chairman of NEC and Union Minister of State (Ind. Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Governors and Chief Ministers of the North Eastern States were present on the dais in the inaugural day of the two-day plenary.
