Itanagar, February 4: A meeting was held in the Office Chamber of the District Transport Officer, Capital Complex Naharalgun on 31st January last in connection with streamlining of the Taxis plying in the capital complex.
The DTO C Wangsu informed that all the taxis plying in the capital complex will have to obtain either tourist permit from the Director of Transport or Local Permit from the DTO Capital compulsorily. He also informed that all the taxi will have to paint the number plate with yellow background and the registration number in black.
Further, no government department, NGO, public sectors etc. should engage any vehicle on commercial/hire basis without valid permit for such purpose, informed the DTO.
The hotels/restaurants in capital complex were also directed not to engage any vehicle on commercial/hire basis without valid permit for such purpose. Further, the President/Secretary of Taxi Union was also directed to start an office dedicated to cater to the needs of the passengers which shall function as single window for hiring of taxi by the intending passengers, informed the DTO.
He also informed that use of beacons in all the taxis with the inscription written as ‘Taxi’ for easy identification would be introduced soon.
The Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex Prince Dhawan has requested all the stakeholders to abide by the resolutions and cooperate with the District Administration in streamlining of the taxi operators for smooth functioning of public Transport system. Further,he has also directed the DTO to ensure implementation of all the above resolutions by 28 February 2019 without fail.
